Skate, Spin and Grin Through the Winter Season
From the early 1900s until the 1970s, Klamath Falls residents found winter delight on a natural sheet of ice tucked into a shady hillside of a City Park. Now, adults and children alike can enjoy The Bill Collier Community Ice Arena, situated near the entrance to the Running Y Ranch. This seasonal covered arena offers open and family recreational skating, skate rentals, hockey leagues, lessons, programs and events.
November 6: Opening Day for 2009/2010 Skating Season
Hockey
Klamath Ice Sports at the Bill Collier Community Ice Arena offers a seasonal hockey program November through March. League hockey is available for ages five and older. For those new to the sport, the Adult Beginner Hockey is the perfect session and includes instruction. Equipment is available for rent (sometimes available to borrow). This session is fun for all adults! Adults wanting more of a challenge should play in the Drop-In Hockey sessions. Registration is now open for the 2009/10 youth and adult hockey leagues. Pond Hockey is the perfect session for youth or families who want to play a game of hockey. Learn more at Klamath Ice Sports.
Figure Skating
8th Annual Figure Skating Spectacular Celebrate with us on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. as Klamath Ice Sports presents the Eighth Annual Figure Skating Spectacular! We are privileged to welcome professional choreographer and skating coach Douglas Webster to our community for a weekend full of excitement and excellence on the ice. Doug will teach special skating seminars for both Basic Skills and Freestyle and Above level skaters on New Year’s Day and hit the ice running the next morning to choreograph our show. Doug recently choreographed the 2009 Sun Valley Summer Ice Show and is currently choreographing for Disney on Ice. Learn more about figure skating.
