The course is very scenic-and can be quite enjoyable to walk. However, it is highly recommended that you use a cart. The course spans over 7,138 yards and features long distances between greens and tees. There are also elevation changes, and if you're not used to playing at our altitude (over 4,200 feet), it may take some time to acclimate. Of course, if you do walk you won't be able to take advantage of the Pro Links GPS system installed on every cart-providing a great resource for yardages and more.
What types of grass are on your course?
The greens are planted with Pennlinks bent grass. Our fairways, tees and primary rough are a mixture of Kentucky Blue grass and Perennial Rye grass. Native fescues are located along the edges of the golf course.
Do you aerate the greens and, if so, when?
We do aerate our greens and that process typically occurs in early October. It takes about five days of healing before the effects on playability are minimized. We make every attempt to inform our guests about this procedure so they may plan for it. We also offer a reduced course rate during this time.
What are frost delays?
During the cooler months of the year (typically starting in late September and running through early April), we do experience frosty mornings. When the ground temperature is below freezing, ice crystals can form in the cell structure of the grass leaf. Traffic on this frost can severely damage the plant so we delay play until the temperature has increased enough to thaw out the grass.
Do you close in the winter?
The Running Y course is open as long as there is no snow on it. Mid January through late February is a typical time that the course can be closed due to snow-although it could be as early as December or as late as mid March.

Where are the "falls" in Klamath Falls?
In 1893, when early area residents decided to rename the little town of Linkville (located on the shores of the Link River and Lake Ewauna), a name of "more influential power" was chosen. A small falls existed on the Link River, so the name Klamath Falls was adopted referring to the Native Americans of the region and the excitement generated by the falls. In 1921 the area's first electric power dam was built on the Link River and the falls vanished.

I like the deer, but I also like the landscaping I've done on my property. How can I protect both?
GardensAlive.com is a site that provides "environmentally responsible products that work." In particular, you can search the website for Deer-Off, a repellant for deer, rabbits and squirrels.
The website states that hungry deer, rabbits, tree squirrels and other animals that browse and feed upon flowers, grass, bulbs, shrubs, edible crops, plants, seedlings and trees can do major damage, as you know. GardensAlive.com states that its product can help you win the battle without fences or weapons. It is long lasting and Deer Off's taste and smell repel deer and discourage other browsing animals like rabbits and squirrels. It is effective for up to three months, and uses a special formula of hot peppers, garlic, and eggs with no artificial chemicals.
