Rainbows, Browns, and Kokanee (landlocked sockeye salmon) are our primary targets at Lake of the Woods. Lake of the Woods is open year round, though in certain years we’ll get locked out if it freezes over (sometimes between December and April).
Fish are near the surface early in the year, making dry lines with small nymphs and dries a lot of fun. As the lake turns over, sinking lines armed with leech patterns and chironomids work well. Don’t overlook the warm water species—largemouth bass, yellow perch, and crappie can be duped by our offerings.
Lake of the Woods is also open to fishing 24 hours a day. Nothing like stripping a streamer in the dark and getting that distinct "grab" from who knows what! Bow, brown, largemouth…who knows?
