HIKING AT THE RANCH
SOUTHERN OREGON VACATION FUN

Beautiful mountains, expansive lake views, lush valleys, and brilliantly colored meadows are the gifts of hiking. The lands of Running Y Ranch and the Klamath Basin in Southern Oregon compel you to head outdoors and explore the quiet beauty and natural wonders of the area. A hike gives you perspective and vastness. It provides you with an opportunity to renew, recharge, and rejuvenate.

Among the 3,600 acres of Running Y Ranch, you have many options. Try a hike along the ridge tops, along the shores of Upper Klamath Lake, out into the marshes that surround the property, and of course into the Skillet Handle — a unique 2.5 miles long peninsula, covered in lovely woods of Western white oak, ponderosa pine and juniper, with a meandering forest trail that leads to an incredible view of the vast beauty of Klamath Lake. Ask anyone on our resort team and they will have a favorite route to share with you; maps are available in The Lodge.

Our guides, ROE Outfitters, also offer a variety of hikes in the Winema National Forest and Klamath River Basin. Hikes vary in difficulty from easy to difficult and we are happy to help you choose a hike that is right for you and your family or corporate group. Our most sought-after hikes are about 3 to 4 hours and cover about 4+ miles. More aggressive hikes can be customized. To begin, you’ll meet up with the guides in Klamath Falls, or at the trailhead.

Several of our hikes are family friendly and we can provide you with information to decide if a hike is right for your family. Little legs can tire quickly and our staff is really great at guiding you to an appropriate choice.
